Cover reveal | It's Only A Little Death
I wrote the queer fever dream of a campy horror that I couldn't find.
I finally finished the cover for my next release, and I'm so happy with how it came out! The design has come a long way since its Wattpad variation from a few years ago. Jamie (@/anspioradnaomh everywhere) did the character art, and they did such an amazing job 💙
I've also included the character art at the end of the official trailer, which I also finalized a few days ago. I've posted both the cover reveal and the trailer on social media, so I could really use some help spreading the word. Feel free to share any of these posts to help me out of the void: Twitter, Instagram (cover reveal), Instagram (trailer), Bluesky (cover reveal), Bluesky (trailer), Threads, YouTube.
The book has a planned release date of September 22nd, and I chose that day because it's the Autumn Equinox, when all things begin to die. Cheesy, maybe, but that's the point of the book. It's got the charm of Tim Burton's earlier films, and the playfulness of Rocky Horror Picture Show's sexual discovery and liberation themes.
The main character is neurodivergent and a nonbinary trans masculine person who uses they/them pronouns, which is something I don't see in erotica, let alone adult horror. I wrote the queer fever dream of a campy horror that I couldn't find.
Since discovering I was on the autism spectrum and that I have ADHD, I also wanted to write a neurodivergent character who actually has neurodivergent traits and challenges, such as having difficulty reading people or situations properly (which gets the main character into quite the unfortunate bind). The main character has subtle stims and behaviors otherwise I hope neurodiverse people will recognize and empathize with, and the book is erotica, so it also shows that ND adults can have a sexual identity. The way society infantilizes us in general can really affect how we feel about ourselves.
Although the book is quite spicy and won't be for everyone, I hope it finds those who may need it the most. The world sucks right now and everything is so grim, and while the book does cover a few difficult real-world topics, the tone is darkly comedic and, hopefully, it can be an escape. It's just very queer and fun and I had such a good time writing it.
I have a page up for it here with all the info you'd need, including a content warning. There's also one chapter up as a preview, but four more will be posted closer to the release date for a bigger excerpt.
I hope you're all doing well. Thanks for reading 💜
