A big announcement & something important
To be transparent, I started doing this because I needed a safety net, especially if things get scary in the United States.
I'm really excited to share that I've started a Patreon. Before you click away, I know a lot of independent creators are doing that right now, but I've got something really unique and special to offer on mine, and you can follow along for free — for free stuff!
Author interviews and my mental health awareness podcast, Waking Dreams, will always be free to access, and my inboxes are always open for interview requests. Short stories, which include a downloadable ePub version, will be for paid members, as well as a few other things here and there that will be Patreon exclusive. If you decide to support me for $3/month, which will remain the only paid tier I'll offer, you get a coupon code for my Payhip shop to get the first book in my series for free, and you immediately gain access to all locked content; past, present, and future.
I want to have as much free content as possible, but I also want to give something to those who pay, so I'll try to keep a good balance. Rest assured, if you subscribe for free, there will be plenty there for you. It still helps me out, too! And as I said before, my inboxes are always open for written interview requests from anyone. If you have mental illnesses and want to tell your story, or if you're a self-published author (soon-to-be self-published authors are welcome too), drop me a line.
I want to keep my general newsletter here, as well as book reviews, but if you'd like to stay up-to-date on other fun things I'm posting to Patreon, head over there. I'll keep this space updated with a general digest of what's been going on. (I also have a side blog for darker subjects, such as my mental health journey, horror reviews, dark prose, my artwork, and darker vaporwave and dark ambient album reviews).
As for exciting things that are coming up soon, I've got an interview scheduled for my mental health podcast. I'm also almost done editing next month's short story, so that will be scheduled to go up for paid members. (Update: The podcast has been put on hiatus indefinitely due to physical health problems)
To be transparent, I started doing this because I needed a safety net, especially if things get scary in the United States. My security as a queer disabled person on SSI is always shaky and dependent upon the government working as it should, which can fail at any given moment. We've been on the verge of several government shutdowns since last year, and the reality of Project 2025, which everyone should be aware of, is a threat unlike any other if we get a conservative president in this next election. The project threatens the livelihoods of marginalized people, as well as anyone who is poor and depends on government assistance to survive.
It's time to start saving and planning for our futures. In the best case scenario, you've got a good stash for a rainy day. In the worst case scenario, you're as prepared as you can be if shit hits the fan. So please vote Blue in November to save democracy, and to ensure the most vulnerable populations remain safe.
Please consider sharing this post around to help me out. And as always, thank you for your support, even if you're just reading the newsletter. I really appreciate it.
